Friends of Dorothea Dix Park Weekly Newsletter March 9, 2007 Hello Friends, Welcome to the sixth edition of our weekly newsletter. Please pass this along to all of your friends and ask them to become involved! Our goal is to keep all our members up-to-date on the recent developments related to Dix Park. We will be gathering this Sunday, March 4, at 1 p.m. to get these signs out to folks that have requested them. Please call Bill beforehand at 787-6378 if you would like to participate. ============================== #3 UPCOMING FESTIVALS We are looking for volunteers to man a booth or hand out information at the upcoming Shakori Hills festival in Pittsboro, NC, April 19-22. This is a great event with a lot of people attending. Please let Jay Spain know if you can volunteer any of those days or you can reply to this email address. More information available at www.shakorihills.org. If you and your family are planning on going to any other NC festivals this spring and summer and would like to represent FDDP there, please let us know! ============================== #4 GETTING THE WORD OUT ACROSS NORTH CAROLINA We have fantastic support across the Triangle for Dix Park, let’s not stop there though. There are newspapers wanting to talk to folks across the state – from Murphy to Manteo – who support a destination park in their Capital City. We need folks from across the state to stand up and speak their mind. Please contact Tess Hussey, who can coordinate media interviews for you as well as letters-to-the-editor at 919-277-1191 or thussey@fwv-us.com. This is everyone’s land and all citizens of the state play an important to help preserve the land as a destination park. ============================== #5 FDDP BOARD MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14 Our next meeting is this Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the House of Many Porches on Dix Hill. Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. These meetings are open to anyone, please come take part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help shape the future of a world-class destination park!
