#1 SEND YOUR THANKS TO OUR CHAMPION IN THE NC GENERAL ASSEMBLY - SEN. JANET COWELL

NC Senator Janet Cowell has emerged as one of our biggest supporters and champions in the General Assembly. We are grateful for her support and all she has done and continues to do to stand up for our park plan in the House and Senate.

It is important for us to reach out to her and express our thanks. Please send Janet an email, or give her a call to express our gratitude for her support.

#2 ANOTHER REASON WHY PRESERVING ALL 306 ACRES IS CRITICAL

An N&O article yesterday entitled, Growth gobbles fields, woods, discussed the sad reality of hundreds of acres of farmland and forests that we used to see around the Triangle that have become subdivisions, shopping centers and roads.   Nearly 2 million acres of forest and farmland will disappear in North Carolina over the next 20 years if development continues at its current rate.

This is another reason why it is so crucial for us to preserve the entire 306 acres on Dix Campus, or it too may suffer the same fate as other farms and woodlands across the Triangle and North Carolina.  Once the land is gone, it's gone forever!

We can anticipate an increase in the level of activity in the near future regarding Dix Park.  Be ready to act!

We still need your help to reach our goal of 10,000 signatures.  Please sign the petition if you have not already, and keep encouraging your friends, family and co-workers to sign - it only takes a few minutes.
