Hello Friends,
Welcome to the 20th edition of our weekly newsletter. Please pass along to your friends and family and ask them to become involved! Our goal is to keep all our members up-to-date on the recent developments related to Dix Park. #1 FUNDRAISER EVENT THIS TUESDAY JUNE 26! #2 DIX PARK IN THE NEWS #3 CALLS TO ACTION ================================== #1 FUNDRAISER EVENT THIS TUESDAY JUNE 26! Thank you to all of those who have pledged their support and have bought tickets to our event! The Friends of Dorothea Dix Park fundraiser will take place on the second floor of the Capital Bank building on Fayetteville Street. We want you all to be there! It's not too late to make your contribution through one of the many levels of sponsorship opportunities (listed above). Please email us (thussey@fwv-us.com) to indicate what level of sponsorship you or your friends or family are interested in. Your check should be made payable to Friends of Dorothea Dix Park and you can mail them to FDDP, P.O. Box 12024, Raleigh, NC 27605 We need to continue our momentum and we cannot do that without your support! =================================== #2 DIX PARK IN THE NEWS Dix Park is continuing to appear in major North Carolina media outlets: Dix: The deal by Bob Geary in The Independent Weekly The Politics of Dix on the News & Observer blog Rolling in the right direction for Raleigh column in the News & Observer =================================== #3 CALLS TO ACTION! To support the recent media coverage and upcoming fundraiser we need you to act quickly on these calls to action! #1 Action Alert! Remember to forward this newsletter and e-vite to everyone in your address book. In order for the Dix Park Fundraiser to be a success we need to invite all those in our community who want to see a world-class destination park become a reality. #2 Action Alert! Contact Mayor Meeker to thank him for his support. The press conference June 14th announcing the city's bid for the 306 acres on the Dix campus was instrumental in focusing attention on Dix Park and pressuring Gov. Easley and the General Assembly to face the Dix Park supporters. Please email, write, call or fax Mayor Meeker to thank him for his continued support of creating a world-class destination park on the Dix campus. #3 Action Alert! Contact Senator Neal Hunt (Wake County) to thank him for publically supporting the Dix Park. Senator Hunt publically announced his support for a world-class destination park on the Dix campus at the Raleigh City Council meeting on June 18th. Support from elected officials is crucial to our efforts to support us and it is important to acknowledge those willing to stand up and support Dix Park.
